Sun Country Airlines Is A Tale of Courage And Success
Sun Country Airlines was created over 30 years ago by highly experienced aviation employees from Braniff Airlines. Braniff could not remain in business, so these die-hard aviation people took it upon themselves to build their own airline. Actually, it was not the airlines but rather the severe restrictions imposed on the US in response to September 11th, 2001 that caused their demise. Just like the phoenix who rises from the ashes, Sun Country Airlines was bought up and then put back into business. Then yet one more time Sun Country Airlines was able to overcome adversity and rise to the occasion.
Times were bountiful for the airline ten years later in 1991. They were earning more per annum than previous years which was terrific. The fleet doubled in size as did the number of employees. When you look at the entire picture, then that is easy to see how they could pull that off. Sun Country was very busy with flying to European destinations in addition to chartered flights to points in the Middle Eastern areas. They did that and did not deviate from their core operating principle of providing superior service their customers. Sun Country Airlines’ air fleet is the type that is considered eco-friendly and green. This reflects the basic attitude they have toward helping the environment stay as healthy as possible. Their fleet of aircraft is considered “current generation” which makes them as fuel efficient as possible. In addition to fuel economy, their engines are designed to have the minimal noise profile available. Sun Country uses the Boeing 737NG class aircraft which is considered the most environmentally friendly aircraft. The 737NG is known to have a very low profile for carbon emissions.
Sun Country also offers both wet and dry lease options for aircraft. A popular leasing option is what we refer to as the wet lease which includes a crew, all maintenance and all insurance as well as the aircraft whereas the airline is responsible for all operations of the aircraft. The company makes every effort to accommodate clients, and so they can be as flexible as necessary regarding leasing durations. The fact is that many wet leases last for a period of time lasting anywhere from several months to possibly several years.
This airlines, Sun Country Airlines, is well known around the world and keeps finding a way to come back.
It would be different if they were not able to walk the talk, but they do and do it very well. That was the vision of the people who started this airline. They have been doing that for over 30 years and the spirit does seem to live on with this airline.
