The Porsche Boxster – Head Out To The Highway Appearing In Style

A car that was shown to the world in 1996, that may be one of the best-handling production roadsters you can find anywhere, is the Porsche Boxster. This has been pretty much unchanged since the beginning, with only adjustments to the interior-options, and some moderate horsepower changes, but the Boxster is still a fast, powerful car. Typically whenever they have a successful design, Porsche keeps the style of the car for a long time.

In 2005, there was the introduction of a second-generation Boxster that was more powerful, but stayed with Porsche’s usual conventional evolutionary path. It resembles a Porsche Spyder but contains two seats with a mid-engine and six cylinders as its earlier version did. The construction and electronics of the brand new Boxster remain over 50% borrowed from the 911 Carrera. The torque adjustment and extra horsepower give the 2005 more muscle than its 2004 version. The speed and high end capability made the 2005 Boxster S a virtually exact equivalent of the more costly Porsche 911 Carrera.

No other car can equal the peculiar sound resembling a trombone that is emanated with the Boxster’s exhaust. Since the engine is similar to the six-cylinder of the Carrera, only on a smaller scale, this is rather surprising. A five-speed manual transmission has become customary with the Boxster but might be upgraded to a six-speed if you wish. It can possibly have the five-speed Porsche-designed Tiptronic automatic transmission system installed, which is an excellent option. This is going to be because of the newest trend towards an automatic that is manually shifted. This is definitely not an opulent automobile, even when the Boxster has high quality bodywork and interior, there is nothing purely decorative.

Earlier editions of the car were judged for appearing to be low-budget but the interior has received some quality upgrades in newer versions. The center console has been given an updated look with simulated titanium paneling and a modified gearshift. The car seats in the more recent model are nicer with added support and an optimal body shape. The Boxster features a small trunk in the rear of the car, and another, larger one under the front hood, so carrying luggage is not a problem. The Boxster comes with a nice feature in its powered convertible top which has the ability to rapidly open and shut at speeds close to 30 mph. The roof is able to stand up to any type of weather and is made of noiseless cloth tops, while the back window boasts heated glass.

Termed as a mid-engine car, the Boxster’s six-cylinder engine is usually found to the back of the seats before getting to the rear axle. You are unable to look under the hood to locate it, as you won’t find it there. To look at the engine, you will have to elevate the car so you can get under it. Keeping the engine near the middle of the car distributes the weight more uniformly. This is the reason the Porshe Boxster controls so incredibly well.
