As many as 26 color and 31 monochrome pages can be produced every minute because of its 400MHz processor. But the printing speed may vary with actual use. Factors such as the document’s content and the media size used are role players. Speaking of media, compatible ones include letterhead, recycled, coated, regular, card stock, pre-punched, envelopes, labels and transparencies.
Standard paper input includes a 150-sheet multipurpose tray and a 250-sheet drawer. But thanks to additional input accessories (sold separately), the maximum paper input may be increased to 950 sheets all in all. One great thing about this laser machine is it already comes with a built-in duplex for faster two-sided printing. It’s automated so you need not turn the pages over each time.
While it already comes with a memory amounting to 250MB, it may be upgraded to as high as 1280MB for more storage. Included are printer languages such as HP PCL 6 and 5e with 81 fonts combined, and Adobe PostScript 3 with 136 fonts. A resolution of 600 x 600 dots per inch is enough for the machine to churn out professional-looking printouts each time.
Black, magenta, yellow and cyan are the 4 toner cartridges that come shipped with the machine. According to the manufacturer, the black cartridge can yield as much as 4000 pages, while the others can yield 300 pages each. With a duty cycle of 70000 pages every month, even the heaviest demands may be met accordingly.
Allowing you to easily use and maintain this laser are some of the features found within. Dell Toner Management helps you keep an eye on toner levels. In fact, you’ll even be alerted when one of them needs to be replaced. It’s also possible to order online, provided there’s an internet connection available. On the other hand, the Dell ColorTrack 2.1 allows you to supervise toner use. By allowing you to set up 50 department or user accounts, you may monitor each account to keep running cost low.
There are three connectivity interfaces and they are parallel IEEE 1284, hi-speed USB 2.0 and Ethernet 10/100BaseT ports. With them, it’s easier to attach the machine to a computer or a group of such. Further, installation is a snap since it’s compatible with a number of operating systems. Keep your office clean by eliminating unnecessary wires. Such is possible with the use of an optional wireless 802.11b/g networking adapter.
