What Are Noise Canceling Headphones?
If you look in stores or online you’ll see that there are many different brands of headsets on the market. There are the models that cover your ear completely. There are the models that you may have seen that fit inside of the ear canal. These are available in many styles and models. Then there are Blu-Tooth and wireless models. These are for people who need the use of their hands and that need to move around while they are talking on the phone. This way they aren’t restricted by a cord. You can also hear the sounds around you in this way. This will also prevent uncomfortable things to happen, like your hair getting tangled, or your earrings getting caught in these.
The latest in headsets are noise canceling models like the QuietComfort 15. They are able to block out both background noise, as well as ambient noise. They can cancel out everyday sounds, such as the dog in your yard, or a plane flying over your house. They are also good for canceling out the noises inside of your house. For example, if you work from home, you need to cancel out the noises of your kids playing in the background, or your dog that won’t stop barking. With noise canceling headsets, no one will know that you have chaos in the background. It will sound just as peaceful as can be.
Headsets that cancel out noise either come in passive, or active types. For the example we provided, Bose QuietComfort 15 Noise Cancelling Headphones, is of the active type. Keep in mind though the the organic construction of headsets will block out noise. The types for example that completely cover you ears are made with cushions that act to naturally block out a certain level of sound. Noise canceling headsets are circum-aural. This means that they are made to maximize the noise filtering features of the headsets. They are constructed out of heavy duty materials like foam which does a great job of blocking out sound. They will also be a little bit more, heavy, which is a bit of a disadvantage. They also only reduce noise to 15-20 decibles. This does no good for heavy noise, which can go up to 75-80 decibels.
On the other hand, active noise canceling headphones have the ability to do everything that passive noise canceling headphones do as well as another very important task. They create their own sound waves that are the same as the background noise. However, this is 180 degrees out of phase with the surrounding sounds and erases all intruding sound waves, which includes the ones with low frequencies. This is also called destructive frequencies. Plenty of online websites have additional information on the subject if more explanation is needed.
The bottom line for most people when they by noise canceling headsets, is that they are going to work. There are models that start at $20.00, and they can range up to hundreds of dollars. A person has to decide how much money that they want to spend, and do some research in stores, and online to find the headsets that have the best features, and at the best prices for the buyer. Research online for noise canceling headphones, QuietComfort 15 for example, to determine your price range for a reliable headsets.
