Video Games Vs Movies, Most Games Gives The Player Hundreds Of Hours Of Potential Game Play
Video games vs movies? There is no debate when considering that the video game industry has taken a big part of the movie industry. As video games become more and more like movies the more competition Hollywood will be facing. Have we seen the last of the the sliver screens days?
Is this the end of Hollywood? If you has to choose what would it be? Video games vs movies? Video games give you a sense of power. Games like Call Of Duty Modern Warfare make you feel like your own movie hero saving the world from the bad guys. Video games put you in the story itself, a story that you are in control of. Its hard for me to not get sucked into the feeling of power and excitement that a video game gives me?
The biggest problem for the movies is getting players who, through their games, have literally hundreds of hours of potential game play to go to a movie.
But for the movies all is not lost. When movies came out way back, people thought that would be the end of reading. When TV came out people thought that would be the end of movies. Once more when the nasty video game hit the market, yes people thought that would be the end of TV.
None of this has happened. why is this? The more people have the more people want, that’s how simple it is. This is the theory behind shopping centers: developers try and cram in as many stores as possible into one location, and even if another center opens in the same area, that’s great too! Having more stores means more costumers.
It boils down to this: video games vs movies, is an impossible comparison because they are two different things. One is a passive experience, the other is an active experience.
I believe that each give us different experiences, for different times of day or moods. Sometimes I just don’t fell like being active. A video game is like partaking in sports. Traditionally movies are passive experiences, the light is reflected from the movie screen into your eyes, like the moon light. Movies are a chance to sit back relax and enjoy a story, like in the days of yore when we would sit under the moon light and tell a story. On the other hand when I’m in the mood I want to be a hero, in control of my fantasy destiny that is what a video game offers.
The problem with Hollywood is getting people into the cinema, and the way they do it is either creating gimmicks like real 3D, or combining the film concept with a video game release. Will video games kill the movie industry? No. But less cinemas might be built with more and more people will not leave the comfort of our home because of VOD. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is one of the best movie style video games of all time.
