Could There Be Any kind of Preventative Value in Using Tissue Seat Covers on Toilets?
If you’re like most people, then you will use those tissue seat covers whenever using a public restroom. If the bathroom doesn’t provide any covers, then you’ll avoid touching the seat by any means necessary Virtually everyone believes that public toilet seats are filled with germs It really does seem like a hassle to go to in order to use the toilet, but the necessity has been ingrained into us almost from birth. You have to think about whether these toilet seat covers are really effective though.
Most doctors will tell you that it’s safe to stop using these toilet seat covers. Germs that cause STDs can’t survive living on a toilet seat. Just think about it. How many people do you know who have actually been infected from sitting on a toilet seat? The inventor of those paper covers was a really clever moneymaker in that all he’s made his millions selling all these years is peace of mind. You can go ahead and keep using one if it makes you feel better, but you really aren’t accomplishing anything by doing so. Although thousands of people have sat on them before you, there is nothing contagious about the seats.
You’ll find there are far greater dangers in the public restrooms you frequent than the toilet seats. Door handles and faucets are loaded with germs. This is one of the reasons that most restrooms nowadays use motion-sensitive flushing and water faucets. The benefit of using these devices is that they help eliminate sanitation problems in the restrooms.
The people at the University of Arizona conducted an interesting study. Microbiologists conducted a study that compared bacteria on toilet seats with those found on telephone receivers. There was about 25,000 bacteria found per square inch on phone receivers. Toilet seats only had about 49 bacteria per square inch.
