IP Webcams – Home Security Made Easy
Home security has commonly been the mainstay of only the rich and famous, with CCTV systems costing an excruciatingly large amount with little or no need for them anyway. But with the advent of cheap webcams and internet recording from your IP address everything is changing.
These days you can pick up IP webcams for a fraction of a standard integrated CCTV solution, and with a wireless IP camera, you can place it essentially anywhere in the house. Cameras are being smaller and smaller continuously as technology advances and cheaper and cheaper as the mobile phone market brings lens prices through the floor.
How do they work? It’s very simple. Your IP webcam is connected to the internet through your normal internet modem and constantly streams the image feed to the manufacturer’s server or a separate video monitoring company. This means that you may get on the web, from any location, 24 hours a day, and see what is going on through your web cam.
There are also iPhone and Android software to see them! This sort of technology can make a huge difference for a family. Want to keep an eye on a child in their bedroom while you’re at work? Perhaps you’re aware that your kids will have a party while you’re out for the weekend. Or great traditional home security, as because these images are streamed over the internet once they’re taken, there’s no on site tapes to steal.
While most IP webcams will let you to see your videos on the internet, not all of them will store a recording, and this feature can frequently cost extra – especially if you want your record to be kept for a long time. There are numerous products on the market that will record your stream to a hard disk, but if that’s on site then it too could be vulnerable. At the end of the day, home security has become a whole lot more affordable and comfort is just one purchase away.
